国际科学史研究院（International Academy of the History of Science）建立于1928年，目的是筹备1929年在巴黎召开的国际科学史大会。在成立大会上，通过了本组织的章程，将本组织确立为吸纳本领域最杰出专家并在世界范围内组织和推动科学史事业的学术组织。二战以前，研究院共组织了五届国际科学史大会。1947年在瑞士洛桑，国际科学史学会（Inter-national Union of the History of Science）成立并承接了组织国际大会的任务。
为了复兴以协睦精神连结专家的传统，研究院自2019年9月开始，筹办一个新系列的国际会议（每四年一届）。国际科学史研究院首届大会于2019年9月12日至15日在希腊首都雅典International Academy of the History of Science举行，会议主题为“Science in Different Cultures and Civilizations”（不同文化和文明中的科学）。南京农业大学中华农业文明研究院院长王思明教授应邀召集“Agricultural Diffusion Around the World”（农业在全球的扩散）分会场。
王思明教授领衔一行五人代表团于2019年9月11日抵达希腊雅典，9月17日返回南京。在为期四天的学术研讨会上，除了参与大会共同议程与旁听其他分会场学术报告之外，在分会场六——农业在全球的扩散上，世界各国学者分别进行学术汇报，并和与会代表进行了广泛、深入的交流，全体学者的全英文学术交流尤其引人注目，会议取得了圆满成功。王思明教授最后作为召集人致闭幕词。
南京农业大学代表汇报题目分别为：王思明教授《China’s Four Great Inventions in Agriculture: The influence of Chinese Traditional Farming upon the Development of the World》，刘馨秋副教授《The Origin of Tea and Diffusion of Tea Drinking Culture in the World》，李昕升副教授《The Introduction and Spread of the Pumpkin in China》，韩凝玉副教授《Art wake up native land: the wisdom road that inherits the spirit of agricultural culture》，胡文亮副研究馆员《Introduction, Diffusion and Its Driving Factors of Jackfruits Production in China》。 文/李昕升
